Dümmen Orange Attends IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show 2023, Shares Popular Items

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 3, 2023) – Dümmen Orange recently displayed some of its wide variety of plants as an exhibitor at the 2023 IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Anaheim, Calif. More than 20,000 people attended the show from over 60 countries in one of largest annual shows for the floral and produce industries.

“We have such a wide variety of different plants that we breed in potted floral crops like anthuriums, orchids, poinsettias, pot mums, kalanchoes, African violets and houseplants,” said Marta Maria Garcia, head of marketing and retail for Dümmen Orange North America. “It’s a complete product offering that sometimes gets overlooked because we don’t have a show like the Global Produce & Floral Show to showcase everything, so this is like the perfect scenario.”

There were top categories that the Dümmen Orange team discussed with industry buyers from major supermarket chains during the show.

Houseplants are still on the rise as they continue to see increased sales in supermarkets around the country. Dümmen Orange offers its Welcome to the Jungle line of indoor plants which will help fuel that trend as retailers remain excited about what lies ahead.

African violets are a nostalgic plant that is making a comeback. Dümmen Orange is the only breeder in the world that is actively breeding behind African violets. The company feels a big responsibility to improve this crop that is doing so well. Dümmen Orange has six new introductions from its new Violet Maxi Series called Hello, Violet! which will be launching for the next selling season. This includes focusing not only on beautiful color flowers but also bi-colors. This was done on purpose because the category is making its way back to the forefront.

Kalanchoes are a great longevity flowering potted plant, an ideal feature for the retail setting. New varieties include bi-colored blooms which means a double bloom and color-changing features. Dümmen Orange currently offers its well-known Calandiva® Kalanchoe varieties and new highlights like Joie, a color-changing bloom variety.

Displaying cut flowers at IFPA’s Global Produce & Floral Show was a top priority for Dümmen Orange. Since cut flowers are a quarter of the company’s global business, this category certainly garners attention. Recent award winners for Dümmen Orange’s cut flower genetics include Sahara Sensation, Gerbera Himalia, Novia, Champagne and Lamira.

Even though this year’s show just recently wrapped up, Dümmen Orange is already looking forward to exhibiting at next year’s IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show which is set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
