Job Summary

The Columbus, Ohio-based IT Application Analyst serves as the primary IT contact for our five North American locations. Key responsibilities are:

  1. Data driven analysis and system support to ensure the order and product information exchange to and from our customers, in close coordination with our IT expert team in Germany
  2. Advise, implement and support new applications in coordination with our headquarters in The Netherlands
  3. Perform IT coordination assignments and coordinate activities between our five North American locations

A two-week training in Germany is part of the orientation program for this position.

Key Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of recent, relevant, and demonstrated data driven analytics (Oracle SQL) and data driven support work responsibilities are required; querying abilities are key
  • At least 1 year of EDI, Web Services, XML setup work experience is required
  • Strong analytic skills in complex information systems processes
  • Strong communication skills to extract business requests and translate these into IT requirements
  • Strong organizational and IT project lead skills
  • High quality standards in supporting information systems and solving problems for users
  • General knowledge of Web Services and website architecture preferred
  • Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or agribusiness, especially related to the greenhouse planning/scheduling, is preferred
  • Microsoft Windows 7 and/or Windows server 2008 R2 training and experience preferred
  • German language skills would be very helpful

Description Of Essential Functions

Data Driven Analysis and System Support functions include (to start, this is approximately 60%*):

  • Performs data driven system analysis and problem solving such as: 
    • Technical analysis (SQL and queries)
    • Functional data analysis (MasterData)
      • Documents related IT business and technical processes
    • Structuring data – including:
      • Review functional information for products and customers
      • Performs reporting
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Business to Business (B2B) data mapping, B2B implementations, testing and trouble-shooting
  • Performs supply-chain applications: order processing, ship notifications, invoicing, catalog information
  • Performs Quality Assurance assignments
  • Conduct tests of own work and leads on test coordination
  • Designs improvements to the ERP system with the German/Dutch IT and business teams
  • Monitors and troubleshoots ERP application servers and escalates problems if needed
  • Leads on HTTP or Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) communications
  • Maintains the Application Log, EDI Queue, and emailed Alerts Monitoring
  • Fields incoming help requests from business users via email, ticketing system and telephone in a timely, courteous manner

IT application management functions include (to start, this is approximately 20%*):

  • Discuss new IT applications and upgrades
  • Lead on IT stakeholder management – interact with and advise the business department on best solutions
  • Monitors and handles inventory management systems together with the business teams
  • Streamline IT applications with Head Quarters of IT in Europe
  • Lead and coordinate the IT 3rd party support projects
  • Provides training and technical support to users

IT project coordination functions include (to start, this is approximately 20%*):

  • Discuss new IT applications and upgrades
  • Lead on IT stakeholder management – interact with and advise the business department on best solutions
  • Streamline IT applications with Head Quarters of IT in Europe
  • Lead and coordinate the IT 3rd party support projects

*NOTE – The IT Functions are projected to shift to approximately 60% IT Application Management and IT Project Coordination and 40% Data driven IT Support within the first 6 to 12 months.

Education 

A bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences or related field. A degree in IT Analytics, applications or project coordination is preferred

Working Conditions

  • Travel (approximately 10% of year) to North American locations as well as to Germany and The Netherlands 
  • Prolonged sitting at work station in a well-lit open office. 
  • Frequently conducts remote IT support and trouble shooting by phone, email, and online meeting platforms
  • Coordinates work across multiple international and domestic time zones effectively
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds of paper and miscellaneous supplies
